The monster-raising series returns! In the Nintendo Direct presentation video held last night on June 21st, Nintendo not only announced new first-party titles such as the Mario RPG remake, Pikmin 4, and Super Mario Wonder, but also several new titles from third-party developers. Friends who love the Dragon Quest series will undoubtedly be highly interested in this title, which is set to launch on December 1, 2023. It is "Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince".

Players familiar with the Dragon Quest series are certainly no strangers to the "Monsters" spin-off series, which features a unique gameplay style of recruiting monster companions, raising and training them, and then assigning them to battle. Since its first title debuted on the GAME BOY console in 1998, it has consistently garnered much love from players.

▼Special celebratory video for the 25th anniversary of the Dragon Quest Monsters series:

This title happens to be a landmark work for the 25th anniversary of the Monsters series, and it is also the third main installment in the Dragon Quest Monsters series. Its subtitle, "The Dark Prince and the Journey of the Elves" (魔族の王子とエルフの旅), refers to the protagonist and heroine of this game: Psaro (ピサロ) and Rose (ロザリー). Veteran players will surely be familiar with them, as both appeared in "Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen" (被引導的人們) in the main Dragon Quest series. Their return to the Monsters series this time promises a special storyline.

The gameplay of Dragon Quest Monsters lies in recruiting various monsters as companions, nurturing and training them to become valuable combat assistants. Many monsters that have appeared in the Dragon Quest series will make their appearance in this title; whether small or large, even powerful demon lord-level monsters can obey your commands and be assigned to battle, which is a major charm of this game.

In addition to significant evolution and updates to the monster system, this game also allows players to breed new monster species through new combination methods. There are over 500 types of monsters, including some making their debut. Players can also connect online to battle against monsters raised by players worldwide. We believe this will greatly satisfy players who enjoy raising monsters. Aim to become a Monster Master!

This title will be released on the Nintendo Switch console on December 1, 2023. The standard edition has a suggested retail price of 7,678 JPY (tax included), with a Master's Edition (11,198 JPY) and a Collector's Edition (14,003 JPY) also available. The game will support Traditional Chinese.
