Japanese toy company Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA), under its Shunya Yamashita BISHOUJO figure brand, in collaboration with Hasbro and Takara Tomy, launched the "TRANSFORMERS BISHOUJO" series based on the Transformers theme. Following the releases of "Optimus Prime" and "Megatron", a limited-edition color variant, the "Dark Optimus Prime Limited Edition" 1/7 scale PVC pre-painted figure, will be sold at the "Anime Expo 2023" event held in Los Angeles from July 1st to July 4th. The suggested retail price is $149.99 USD, with an anticipated release in July 2023 (Japan release on July 12).
Illustrator Shunya Yamashita (山下しゅんや), known for his ability to combine popular elements with his unique style to depict feminine charm, is highly popular both in Japan and internationally, active in illustration design and original artwork for games and toy figures. His BISHOUJO characters exude a unique blend of cuteness and sexiness, reinterpreting character styles with different appearances, radiating an ineffable charm.
Based on Shunya Yamashita's illustrations, the "TRANSFORMERS BISHOUJO Dark Optimus Prime Limited Edition" 1/7 scale PVC pre-painted figure transforms the tough machinery into a beautiful girl, measuring approximately 235mm in height. The characteristic red and blue color scheme of the Autobot leader is replaced with the cool, jet-black tones of Optimus Prime's clone, "Dark Optimus Prime" (also known as Nemesis Prime). It retains thoughtful designs such as hair ornaments and necklaces, as well as the charming midriff-baring outfit, but features a newly sculpted mischievous expression! The weapon in her hand has also been replaced with an ochre-red Dark Saber, adding to her cool demeanor!
