Among the new LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog themed sets released in April this year, the missing piece of the puzzle has finally been officially unveiled! Set number 76993, "Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot", is scheduled for release on August 1, 2023.
This 615-piece set includes a transparent speed sphere for Sonic, a brick-built launcher assembled with Technic elements, a brick-built robot model, and the classic rival duo from the Sonic the Hedgehog game: Sonic and Dr. Eggman minifigures. The biggest highlight is definitely the red and yellow-themed "Death Egg Robot"! Once assembled, it stands 15 cm tall and features posable joints in its legs and arms. The top cockpit can also be opened to place the Dr. Eggman minifigure inside. Besides the amusing Dr. Eggman silhouette on its face, the overall robust mechanical design is highly anticipated.
The playability aspect is also quite interesting. Toy enthusiasts can use the speed sphere and launcher to help Sonic defeat the Death Egg Robot, and if successful, rescue the animals located inside the Death Egg Robot. Additionally, there's a small research station scene, a ramp, spikes, gold rings, small animals, a brick-built Cubot, and more – it's definitely worth getting!
