Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., the transforming alloy toy 'DX Chogokin' series today announced the latest product from 'Macross Plus', the "YF-19 Excalibur (Isamu Dyson Custom)", scheduled for release in December 2023.
The variable fighter YF-19, commonly known as "Excalibur", is a unit developed by Shinsei Industry for the New U.N. Spacy's "Project Super Nova", and is the aircraft piloted by protagonist Isamu Dyson in 'Macross Plus'. The YF-19 boasts innovative technologies such as a pinpoint barrier system and active stealth radar, and with a Fold Booster, it can perform Fold Jumps. Its forward-swept wing design provides extremely high maneuverability. However, the initial production YF-19 had poor operability, causing physical strain on test pilots and even leading to multiple casualties. Only a select few top pilots were capable of mastering it.
The "DX Chogokin YF-19 Excalibur (Isamu Dyson Custom)" is a re-release commemorating the 30th anniversary of the 'Macross' series. The YF-19 main unit is fundamentally the same as previously released versions, reproducing Isamu Dyson's specifications with rich paint colors and fuselage markings. Not only does it faithfully recreate the distinctive forward-swept wing design, but parts of the frame are also made with higher-strength alloy materials to achieve the intricate three-stage transformation mechanism for FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID modes. It also features flexible articulation for dynamic posing in all forms.
Accessories include mini figures of Isamu Dyson and Yang Newman, which can be placed in the cockpit with its front and rear canopy opening. Also included are the GUN POD weapon, landing gear, and a dedicated display stand for posing and displaying the YF-19 in its various forms. This release also adds a newly sculpted pair of "Pinpoint Barrier Punch" effect parts, which can be attached to both left and right hands to recreate powerful combat poses!
