Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY's affordable pre-painted figure series "POP UP PARADE" today unveiled the colored prototypes of two new products from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann at "Anime Expo 2023": "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann XL size" and "Simon Youth Ver.". Release dates are yet to be determined.
The PVC pre-painted figure series "POP UP PARADE" boasts several features, including an accessible uniform price of 4,800 JPY, quick release after announcement, and a display-friendly size of 17-18 cm. The character sculpts are fundamental and refined, purely showcasing the character's design, and the overall color application is of a decent standard. However, they do not come with any special accessories or effect parts, sometimes even lacking the character's signature weapons. They are considered products positioned between prize figures and standard PVC scale figures, and in recent years, the series has begun releasing products in different sizes such as L size and XL size.
The Simon released this time depicts his youth appearance from the latter half of the story, striking a powerful pose with his upper body bare, shouting "Who the hell do you think we are?!" towards the sky. The "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann XL size" boasts an impressive size nearly three times larger than Simon, adopting the same pose as Simon, meticulously sculpted with sharp armor details and a massive Spiral Power effect.
