Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced that the event-exclusive Gunpla product "HG 1/144 Gundam Aerial [Clear Color]" from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury" is scheduled to be available for purchase in stores starting July 22, 2023.
The XVX-016 Gundam Aerial is a GUND-ARM type mobile suit developed by Shin Sei Development Corporation on Mercury. This unit was modified by President Prospera (Elanora Samaya) from the Lfrith Gundam, and before her daughter Eri's body was near death, their personalities were transferred into Aerial's data storm, becoming a new body. This machine is equipped with armaments such as beam sabers, a beam rifle, and a shield. The shield can be separated into 11 "GUND-Bits," which can be used not only as remotely controlled all-range wireless weapons "Funnels" but also linked with various connection points across the body and the beam rifle, serving as equipment to enhance mobility and firepower.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Aerial [Clear Color]" is a modification of the previously released regular version, replacing all white, red, blue, and yellow armor parts with clear molded colors. The dark gray parts of the frame and armaments have also been changed to a metallic-textured molded color. The highly translucent texture makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting and glow-in-the-dark paints, allowing for a style different from regular Gunpla.
The remaining specifications are identical to the regular version, produced with Bandai's latest part separation technology, faithfully reproducing the highly layered armor design and flexible movable joints from the show, allowing for the cool high-kneeling pose seen in promotional images. The glowing effect when the Permet Score is activated on the chest is expressed using IMD (In-Mold Decoration) molded parts. It also includes armaments such as a beam rifle, beam saber hilt, beam saber effect parts, and a shield. The shield can be disassembled into 11 GUND-Bits, which can be used as remotely controlled beam weapons "Funnels," or attached to various slots on the main body to recreate the "Bit on Form" that enhances the unit's performance.
