The plastic model kit series 『MODEROID』, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, recently unveiled for the first time the physical painted prototype of its latest product, "LINEBARREL OVERDRIVE," from the manga "Linebarrels of Iron." The release date is yet to be determined.
The giant robot LINEBARREL is from the manga "Linebarrels of Iron" by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. Piloted by the protagonist Koichi Hayase, it is the 12th "anti-MACHINA unit," an unexpected addition beyond the 11 existing MACHINA in the story. Its background is shrouded in mystery, and its performance surpasses other MACHINA. Equipped with two katanas as its main weapons, it excels in close-quarters combat. The tail-shaped stabilizer mounted on its lower back houses a flight unit and the long-range beam weapon "EXECUTOR."
The "MODEROID LINEBARREL OVERDRIVE" is produced using multi-color molded parts and some pre-painted parts. It faithfully recreates LINEBARREL's characteristic slender physique and powerfully sized limbs, as well as the "OVER DRIVE" form, where internal heat sinks are deployed in multiple areas such as the shoulder and arm armor, and the flight unit. However, signature weapon accessories like the two katanas and the long-range beam weapon "EXECUTOR" have not yet been showcased.
