The exquisite articulated monster figure series "S.H.MonsterArts," released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced its latest product from the 1993 film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla": "Mechagodzilla (1993) & Garuda & Fire Rodan Makuhari Decisive Battle Ver."! The suggested retail price is 24,200 JPY, with an estimated release in December 2023.
Released in 1993, "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" (ゴジラvsメカゴジラ), the 20th film in the Godzilla series, tells the story of the United Nations establishing the "G-FORCE" unit to counter Godzilla's attacks. By analyzing the sunken Mecha-King Ghidorah, they technologically created Weapon No. 1, "Garuda" (ガルーダ), and Weapon No. 2, the ultimate "Mechagodzilla." Later in the story, to address Mechagodzilla's slow movement and lack of mobility, it combined with Garuda to become Super Mechagodzilla, significantly enhancing its firepower!
The 30th-anniversary commemorative product, "S.H.MonsterArts Mechagodzilla (1993) & Garuda & Fire Rodan Makuhari Decisive Battle Ver.," re-releases the Super Mechagodzilla from 2017 with a new paint application. Considering the lighting used on the actual film set, the overall color has been re-adjusted to a bluish silver tone. Furthermore, the head structure has been partially adjusted, allowing for the recreation of its battle-damaged right eye through interchangeable parts.
To achieve a more complete fusion with Mechagodzilla, Garuda's color has also been adjusted, allowing for combination to recreate Super Mechagodzilla! It also includes an accompanying base for standalone display. By replacing the wrist parts, its flying pose can be reproduced.
Fire Rodan finally makes its reappearance since the 2012 version! Its color scheme has been adjusted to match its appearance in the film, and the horns on its head and its spine use transparent materials to recreate its glowing effect.
