The Japanese animated film "Suzume," written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, is his third film involving disaster themes, following "Your Name." and "Weathering With You," collectively known as the "Makoto Shinkai Disaster Trilogy." The story draws inspiration from the phenomenon of once-bustling cities becoming deserted and silent due to COVID-19, combined with the events of the Great East Japan Earthquake, to create "Disaster Doors" from which giant worms emerge, triggering major earthquakes. The protagonist, Suzume Iwato, accidentally intervenes in the mission of the Closer, Sōta Munakata, thus beginning their strange yet healing adventure.
The "POP UP PARADE Suzume Iwato" PVC figure stands approximately 17 cm tall. Based on the movie poster where Suzume holds Sōta's chair, the figure captures Suzume's subtle expression in three dimensions. Her side-facing pose emphasizes the flowing movement of her hair and uniform skirt. Details such as the uniform's red bow tie, bracelet, and hair accessories are meticulously rendered.
