BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division recently announced that the latest limited edition Gunpla product, "1/144 RX-78F00 HMT Gundam High Mobility Type (G-3 Color Scheme)," sold exclusively at the life-sized moving Gundam display facility "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA," will be released on July 15, 2023.
The "RX-78F00 Gundam" standing at Yokohama's Yamashita Pier differs significantly in design from previous original Gundam designs. Compared to the Odaiba Gundam, which relatively reproduces the original settings, the Yokohama Gundam features a miniaturized head and backpack, and also incorporates suggestions from director Yoshiyuki Tomino, resulting in a visually more slender physique. Bandai sets the backstory of the RX-78F00 after the One Year War, where Amuro Ray's missing mobile suit, the "RX-78-2 Gundam," was discovered by Earth Federation facilities in the Far East Asian region. Utilizing the large amount of wreckage found, it was researched, analyzed, and rebuilt, culminating in the completion of the "RX-78F00 Gundam" established at GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA.
This latest design combines the RX-78F00 Gundam with the image of the RX-78-3 G3 Gundam, replacing the part molding colors with G3's characteristic gray-white and gray-blue scheme, and includes a set of HIGH MOBILITY TYPE equipment, paying homage to the "High Mobility Type Gundam" that appeared in the game《機動戰士鋼彈 基連的野望 吉翁獨立戰記》. The High Mobility Type equipment includes additional chest armor, backpack thrusters, auxiliary thrusters on both legs, and the "Twin Beam Rifle" weapon, among others, allowing for easy detachment and form switching.
