Japanese toy brand Kaiyodo's "Amazing Yamaguchi (アメコミヤマグチ)" articulated figure series, known for its astonishing posability, recently officially announced full product details for its new MARVEL-themed release, "Thor" (ソー)! Scheduled for release in January 2024.
Updated on August 14, 2023:
The "Amazing Yamaguchi Thor," with its prototype once again sculpted by Kaiyodo's veteran sculptor "Katsuhisa Yamaguchi," stands approximately 18 cm tall. While retaining Thor's comic-accurate robust muscular lines, it fully utilizes the characteristics of Yamaguchi-style articulation, allowing collectors to flexibly move Thor's powerful physique and display highly dynamic poses. The armor details, including the winged helmet, belt, and battle boots, are also exquisitely sculpted. The cape was crafted by Japanese creator Kazu, who specializes in doll costumes. In addition to built-in bendable wires, Kazu meticulously calculated the optimal drape and silhouette, greatly enhancing the dynamic tension when posing the figure.
Accessories include five interchangeable face plates, an unhelmeted head sculpt, Mjolnir, multiple interchangeable hands including hammer-wielding poses, and a generous quantity of lightning effect parts. In addition to firmly gripping Mjolnir, it can also depict the appearance of flying while holding the hammer's strap, further enhancing its versatility. Furthermore, purchases made at Kaiyodo's directly managed stores will receive an exclusive Mjolnir part with a spinning effect.
