Bandai Spirits' popular soft vinyl toy 'MOVIE MONSTER' series today announced the latest product from the newest Godzilla film, Godzilla Minus One, the "Godzilla (2023)," scheduled for release on October 7, 2023.
Godzilla Minus One is the 30th film in Toho's Godzilla series, commemorating its 70th anniversary. Directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, known for the ALWAYS Sanchōme series and Stand by Me Doraemon, the film returns to the origin of the first Godzilla – post-World War II Japan. Having lost countless lives and infrastructure to the war, Japan finds itself in a predicament where it must start from zero. The sudden landing of the colossal monster "Godzilla" pushes the nation into its most desperate state ever. How will people confront the challenge of going from zero to minus one?
The "MOVIE MONSTER Godzilla (2023)" is crafted as a soft vinyl figure with a total height of approximately 15.5 cm. It faithfully recreates Godzilla's robust physique, reminiscent of the Heisei series, its rough skin like deep-sea coral, and sharp, massive coral-like dorsal fins. Additionally, simple paint applications highlight the earthy yellow of its body, its eyes, and internal mouth details. The originally sharp claws and dorsal fin tips have been blunted, ensuring safe play for children aged 3 and above.
