The popular Godzilla model kit series "CHIBIMARU Godzilla", released by Japanese model manufacturer FUJIMI, which combines a cute Q-version head-to-body ratio with the cool styling of the original design, recently announced the release of its latest product, "Mechagodzilla (Type-3 Kiryu Kai Heavy Arms Type)", after a five-year hiatus, scheduled for October 2023.
The Mechagodzilla "Type-3 Kiryu Kai Heavy Arms Type" that appeared in the film "Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S." is a repaired form of the "Type-3 Kiryu" from the previous film "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla", which was built using the bones of the original Godzilla. Although its damaged right arm was replaced with the transformable drill "Spiral Claw", its strongest chest weapon, the "Absolute Zero Cannon", was abandoned due to excessive budget. In its place, it was equipped with a large-caliber 3-barrel Hyper Maser Cannon, a new backpack, and Type-4 Railguns, among other armaments.
The "CHIBIMARU Mechagodzilla (Type-3 Kiryu Kai Heavy Arms Type)" is produced using three different molded plastic colors, stickers, and water-slide decals. Once completed, it stands approximately 10 cm tall, featuring a cute low head-to-body ratio while faithfully reproducing its cool mechanical details. Numerous new parts are used to recreate its new backpack, right arm Spiral Claw, chest-mounted 3-barrel Hyper Maser Cannon, and forearm-mounted Type-4 Railguns. It features articulated joints in its jaw, neck, limbs, and tail, and the chest can be switched between open and closed cannon muzzle states.
