Japanese toy brand Max Factory's assembly model brand "PLAMAX" will release the "STRIKEDOG" (XATH-02 STRIKEDOG), a mobile weapon developed by a secret society, from the classic robot series "Armored Trooper VOTOMS" (装甲騎兵ボトムズ)! Scheduled for release in January 2024, priced at 8,800 JPY.
"Armored Trooper VOTOMS" (装甲騎兵ボトムズ) is a robot anime produced by Sunrise and directed by Ryosuke Takahashi in 1983. The story follows the protagonist "Chirico Cuvie," a soldier who has forgotten his past but possesses exceptional talent for piloting "AT" (Armored Trooper) robots. Under relentless enemy fire, Chirico constantly faces life and death situations. What sustains him in battle, besides his desire to uncover the truth, is the image of the "Phantom Lady" that always appears in his mind. The anime's intense robot combat scenes are a highlight of the series.
The XATH-02 STRIKEDOG released by PLAMAX this time is piloted by "Ypsilon" (イプシロン), a Perfect Soldier (PS) in the original work. It is Ypsilon's exclusive heavy AT developed by a secret society. The XAT designation represents machines developed by that organization. It features an all-blue paint scheme, and its characteristic weapon is the Iron Claw (アイアンクロー) on its left arm.
This product, at 1/24 scale, recreates the 1993 soft vinyl toy. It features a 5-color basic parts separation and includes waterslide decals. Additionally, four interchangeable right-hand parts are provided. It also comes with its weapon, a large rocket launcher, and a figure of the pilot, Ypsilon.
