BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced that the high-end finished model series 'METAL STRUCTURE' will re-release the highly anticipated Mobile Suit Gundam product, "RX-93 ν Gundam," in January 2024, after its initial release in 2019. Pre-orders in Japan are scheduled to open on September 4, 2023.
The first product in the METAL STRUCTURE series, "RX-93 ν Gundam," boasts an impressive 1/60 scale and a total height of approximately 370mm. Its overall design has undergone extremely meticulous research and analysis, incorporating details not present in the anime's original settings and interpreting each part with realistic engineering methods. This includes the LED-equipped head, the incredibly complex arm structure, and the precisely segmented leg armor, all reconstructed with nearly 2000 tiny parts. Even weapons like the beam rifle and shield have been redesigned with original concepts.
The entire unit features a multitude of body markings. The frame, cooling systems, and other areas utilize metallic colors and gradient paintwork, while alloy parts are electroplated, giving the mobile suit a heightened sense of realism and heft. It also boasts astonishing articulation, with extensive armor deployment and LED light-up mechanisms from the head and chest down to the legs, allowing it to recreate scenes of heat dissipation during combat or maintenance during development. The accessories also include a movable dedicated display base designed as a maintenance bay, enabling the display of incredibly realistic maintenance scenes.
Upon its initial announcement, this product generated significant buzz due to its scale and specifications, which far exceeded typical collectibles, and its price tag of over 100,000 Japanese Yen. After its release, its premium status led to phenomena such as immediate sell-outs and high-priced resales. It remains to be seen whether this re-release will see a price adjustment due to global inflation and rising costs, or if it will once again spark a new wave of frenzied buying and reselling.
