Following the release of cool products like the rampaging "Evangelion Unit-01 Rhinoceros Beetle & Unit-02 Stag Beetle" and the increasingly bizarre "Popuko Rhinoceros Beetle & Pipimi Stag Beetle" from Japanese model maker FUJIMI (フジミ模型)'s "Jiyū Kenkyū" (Free Research) assembly model series, this time they are combining beetles with the souls of famous Japanese Sengoku commanders! The "No.255 Bushō Hen (Warlord Chapter) Tokugawa Ieyasu Rhinoceros Beetle & Honda Tadakatsu Stag Beetle" will be released in October 2023.
This release utilizes highly biological beetle-shaped kits and stickers to thoroughly reproduce the armor of Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the "Three Great Unifiers of Japan," and Honda Tadakatsu, the "Strongest Warrior of the Sengoku Period," on the rhinoceros beetle and stag beetle. They appear quite magnificent even without painting! The Tokugawa Ieyasu Rhinoceros Beetle recreates the famous golden armor "Kintarami Gusoku," while the Honda Tadakatsu Stag Beetle meticulously restores the "Kuroito Odoshi Dōmaru Gusoku" with its black and gold color scheme. The massive horns are reminiscent of the striking antlers of the "Shikatsuno Wakidate Kabuto" helmet, and the demonic faces are vividly rendered. When both beetles' wings are spread, Tokugawa Ieyasu's family crest will be visible.
