Following the release of Ultraman Blazar, the popular action figure series "S.H.Figuarts", issued by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., today announced its latest product, "Type 23 Special Tactical Armored Beast Earth Garon", slated for release in December 2023.
The setting of "Ultraman Blazar" is an Earth frequently plagued by kaiju disasters. To defend against threats from both within and outside Earth, humanity established the Global Defense Force (GFF) in 1966. Returning to the present day, where nature is rapidly being destroyed, the protagonist, Gento Hiruma, who leads a special unit, merges with the giant of light, "Ultraman Blazar," from celestial body M421 during a crisis. After this event, he is appointed captain of the secret special unit "SKaRD," responsible for utilizing new weaponry to resolve kaiju disasters. The primary large-scale weapon among these is the "Type 23 Special Tactical Armored Beast Earth Garon." It moves on two legs, stands 50 meters tall, and is equipped with powerful armaments such as charged particle cannons and missiles. Operated by two personnel, it can unleash outstanding combat power.
The "S.H.Figuarts Type 23 Special Tactical Armored Beast Earth Garon" is produced with the cooperation of Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department. The suit used in the series was 3D scanned to create a digital model, which then served as the basis for this approximately 16 cm tall action figure. It precisely recreates the characteristic spiral eyes and the full-body mechanical structure, painted in deep blue and orange armor colors. It also features articulated joint designs for the limbs, waist, hydraulic cylinder linkage in the feet, and a multi-segmented tail.
Accessories include 3 pairs of interchangeable hand parts, 4 types of interchangeable eye parts, and cockpit deployment recreation parts. The mouth can also open to reveal the internal charged particle cannon with an accompanying muzzle part, allowing for the recreation of various combat scenarios from the series.
