Japanese model manufacturer MEGAHOUSE's space battleship model series 'Cosmo Fleet Special', after nearly seven years, finally releases a new product themed on "Mobile Suit Gundam": the "Ra Cailum Re. Pre-painted Model", scheduled for release in late December 2023.
First appearing in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack", the Earth Federation Forces space battleship Ra Cailum is the flagship of the Londo Bell fleet, commanded by Captain Bright Noa. Onboard is Amuro Ray's dedicated mobile suit, the "RX-93 ν Gundam", which can turn the tide of battle. This ship is a masterpiece combining firepower and MS operational capability, capable of accommodating approximately 15 MS units of the same size as the Jegan, allowing for rapid deployment and resupply via its dual-purpose decks. For armament, it is equipped with numerous anti-aircraft machine guns, missile launchers, and multiple twin-barreled MEGA Particle Cannons positioned at both the front and rear, providing ample counter-firepower even when approached by Neo Zeon MS.
The re-released "C.F.SP Ra Cailum Re. Pre-painted Model" maintains the same overall design as the 2014 version. It is a pre-painted model with a total length of approximately 17 cm, precisely reproducing details such as the bridge and multiple thrusters at the stern. The four MEGA Particle Cannon turrets on various sections are rotatable, and the left and right catapult deck hatches can be deployed by swapping parts. It also includes mini models of three mobile suits—ν Gundam, Sazabi, and Re-GZ—for display.
However, the overall paint application is more refined compared to the old version. The entire ship features light weathering to create the appearance of dust and rust on the exterior armor, conveying the battle-hardened feel of the Ra Cailum after over 12 years of service. Additionally, it includes water-slide decals printed with various patterns and text, which, when applied to different parts of the hull, significantly enhance its realism.
