Toei Animation (東映アニメーション) of Japan recently announced its latest product, the "TOEI ANIMATION COLLECTION -GEAR5-" pre-painted finished figure, based on "One Piece" and centered around the protagonist Monkey D. Luffy in his peak power state! It is currently available for pre-order at the Toei Store, with an expected release in April 2024.
After awakening, Monkey D. Luffy's Gum-Gum Fruit (Gomu Gomu no Mi) transforms into "Gear 5," also known as the "Human-Human Fruit, Mythical Zoan: Nika Form." In this state, not only are his stretching abilities greatly enhanced, but he also gains an incredibly powerful degree of freedom, allowing him to easily stretch and twist his body in various ways, becoming the embodiment of freedom. Furthermore, he can turn his imagination into fighting power, making it the most absurd power in the world. Luffy himself calls it "My peak power...!"
This "TOEI ANIMATION COLLECTION -GEAR5-" stands approximately 21 cm tall and can be said to express Luffy's completely unrestrained "freedom" in Gear 5 to the maximum. Not only does it render in 3D four different-sized Gear 5 Luffys within a single model, but it also creates an interesting interaction with the classic ONE PIECE LOGO! This includes Luffy using "Gum-Gum Thunder" to encircle the LOGO with his left hand, the upper right corner of the LOGO being fiercely pulled and bitten, and the skull emblem's eyes on the LOGO itself popping out... and more. Coupled with the extremely vivid expressions of each Luffy, the overall presentation creates a visually delightful effect that will bring a smile to your face.
