Japanese toy brand WAVE is set to release a 1/24 scale assembly model of the "Scopedog" (スコープドッグ), the main armored trooper most frequently piloted by protagonist Chirico Cuvie in the classic robot anime "Armored Trooper VOTOMS" (装甲騎兵ボトムズ). It is scheduled for release in December 2023, priced at 9,900 JPY.
"Armored Trooper VOTOMS" (装甲騎兵ボトムズ) is a robot anime produced by Sunrise and directed by Ryosuke Takahashi in 1983. The story follows the protagonist, Chirico Cuvie, a soldier who has forgotten his past but possesses an extraordinary talent for piloting "AT" (Armored Trooper) robots. Under relentless enemy fire, Chirico constantly faces life-and-death situations. What sustains him in battle, besides his desire to uncover the truth, is the image of the "Phantom Lady" that always appears in his mind. The anime's intense robot combat scenes are a highlight of the series.
This "Scopedog" model from WAVE represents the most frequently piloted and familiar unit used by Chirico in the series, an essentially basic model. This product is 1/24 scale, standing approximately 16 cm tall, and faithfully recreates various mechanisms of the unit, including the opening and closing cockpit hatch, the pilot figure inside, the transformation structure for disembarking, and the retractable fist mechanism of the left arm. Additionally, stickers are included to enhance the intricate details.
