The popular die-cast toy series 'METAL BUILD', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., today finally announced the release of the long-anticipated latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", the "Providence Gundam", slated for January 2024.
The ZGMF-X13A Providence Gundam is a mobile suit developed by the Z.A.F.T. military, boasting top-tier performance in C.E. 71. During the Second Battle of Jachin Due, it was piloted by elite commander Rau Le Creuset in the decisive battle against the Earth Alliance forces. Equipped with technologies such as a nuclear engine, Neutron Jammer Canceller, DRAGOON System, G.U.N.D.A.M. COMPLEX, and Phase Shift Armor, this unit possessed cutting-edge performance for its era. It could perform long-range bombardment with its "Judgement" Large Beam Rifle, and its disc-shaped backpack was equipped with 11 "DRAGOON Systems" featuring multiple muzzles, allowing for omnidirectional attacks thanks to Creuset's superhuman spatial awareness.
The "METAL BUILD Providence Gundam" was once again designed by the team led by Yoichi Sakamoto, who previously designed popular items such as the METAL BUILD Destiny Gundam and Strike Freedom Gundam, and supervised by Satoshi Shigeta, the mechanical animation director for "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED". It is crafted from composite materials including ABS, PVC, and die-cast parts, resulting in an imposing height of approximately 33.5 cm.
The overall design is a refined interpretation of the anime's settings, incorporating the METAL BUILD aesthetic to provide richer armor lines, layering, and body markings, among other details. It features a multi-tone gray color scheme to differentiate between various material textures on the mobile suit. Furthermore, numerous sections of the body and joints are constructed with die-cast parts, delivering a rich, heavy metallic feel. The disc-shaped base of the "DRAGOON System" on the backpack also features a deployment gimmick, allowing the outer armor to slide open and reveal the internal mechanisms, enhancing both detail and silhouette variation.
Regarding its armaments, the imposing "Judgement" Large Beam Rifle features an original gimmick that allows various parts, such as the barrel and stock, to deploy, transforming it into a high-output mode. The "Composite Armament Shield System" on the left arm can not only attach beam saber effects but also features an original beam oscillation deployment gimmick. All 11 "DRAGOON Systems", the mobile suit's most distinctive armament, are detachable and can be displayed floating around the unit using clear stands, allowing for dynamic battle poses with the specially designed display base!
