The robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E.", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam MSV": the "MS-06M (MSM-01) Zaku Marine Type (Red Dolphin Team Specification)", slated for release in April 2024.
The MS-06M (MSM-01) Zaku Marine Type, also known as the "Underwater Zaku," was the first amphibious mobile suit produced by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War to adapt to Earth's diverse terrain. Of the seven units produced, two were assigned to the "Red Dolphin" submarine fleet in the South Pacific. They participated in the Mediterranean landing invasion operation but left no record of combat achievements. The Zaku Marine Type underwent extensive modifications based on the Zaku II F-Type, with most parts replaced to withstand water pressure at depths of 400 meters. It was equipped with armaments such as a Subroc Gun and a Quadruple Rocket Launcher. However, despite significant investment, it failed to achieve corresponding results in testing, and its mass-production status was quickly superseded by the "Gogg" built by Zimmad, leading to its storage in Zeon's warehouses to gather dust.
The "ROBOT Damashii Zaku Marine Type (Red Dolphin Team Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E." is an updated version based on previous releases. It utilizes new color schemes and body markings to faithfully reproduce its distinctive aqua-green paintwork, the Red Dolphin team emblem on the front skirt armor, and other intricate details. Each joint features waterproof sealing designs while maintaining flexible articulation. The neck joint can tilt significantly backward to recreate underwater cruising poses, and the knee joints can bend 90 degrees and are linked with the soft vinyl power pipe parts.
Accessories include a handheld Subroc Gun, two chest-mounted Quadruple Rocket Launchers, and various interchangeable hand parts. Additionally, new effect parts not included in previous versions have been added: a Subroc Gun firing effect and high-pressure jet foam effects that can be attached to various nozzles, allowing for the recreation of the Zaku Marine Type's underwater cruising and combat scenes.
