From Hong Kong, sculptor JOKU officially established the new model brand 'JOKU Productions' this year (Official Website). Specializing in sculpting digital models of kaiju, Godzilla, and other tokusatsu themes using ZBrush, he has also obtained official authorization from Tsuburaya Productions to launch the first product from the Ultraman series, "HyperMod Ultra Kaiju Series - Eleking", with an estimated shipping date in Q4 2023.
The Eleking, released this time, first appeared in Ultraman Seven, which aired in 1967. It is a giant beast cultivated by the Pitt Aliens in Lake Azuma for the invasion of Earth, capable of receiving and being controlled by command signals from the Pitt Aliens. Don't let Eleking's seemingly cute and harmless sea slug-like appearance fool you; it possesses an extra-long and flexible tail that can bind enemies before unleashing a 500,000-volt electric shock. Additionally, multiple parts of its body can emit powerful discharge beams for attack. The highly popular Eleking subsequently reappeared in numerous Ultraman works, making it one of the few kaiju in the series to span the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, and was once voted the most impressive kaiju in Ultraman Seven.
The "HyperMod Ultra Kaiju Series Eleking" adopts an approximately two-head-tall SD proportion to recreate its initial appearance from 1967, featuring an adorable pose with its two hands raised like a ghost. Through meticulous painting, it thoroughly reproduces the yellowish skin, lightning-like black markings, and menacing long tail seen on the original suit. It also realistically restores details such as wrinkles, the asymmetrical antennae on both sides of the head, and even the peephole left for the actor.
Furthermore, the head antennae feature a movable structure, allowing them to rotate at the base just like in the show. An LED light is also hidden inside the head, which, when illuminated, emits a yellow glow from the transparent mouth, recreating the pose of firing its signature "Discharge Beam" from its mouth!
