Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo's assembly model kit series "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS" recently announced its latest product from "Gunbuster" (Aim for the Top!), the "GunBuster, Noriko Takaya, Kazumi Amano 'Solar System Absolute Defense Battle'"! It is scheduled for release in December 2023.
The setting of "Gunbuster" (Aim for the Top!) is the 21st century, where human technology has advanced to the point of exploring the universe with giant faster-than-light battleships. However, at the same time, Earth civilization is under severe threat from the "Space Terrible Monster Crowd"; the protagonist, "Noriko Takaya," is a student at Okinawa Girls' Space High School, striving to pilot humanoid mechs and venture into space. Later, in the cosmos, which has become a fierce battlefield, she pilots humanity's last resort, the giant robot "GunBuster," to fight against the Space Monsters, shouldering the future of humanity alongside her "big sister" Kazumi Amano.
This product is a plastic model kit based on the GunBuster soft vinyl kit originally sculpted in 1991 by the late mechanical prototype master, "Taku Sato," known as ROBO-shi (ロボ師). It has been 3D scanned, digitally remodeled, and finally brought to life as a plastic assembly model kit, marking the revival of Sato's masterpiece decades later! Once assembled, GunBuster stands at an impressive 27 cm tall and features a tough Gun metal molding color. Furthermore, there are two pose options: arms crossed or arms naturally hanging down.
Additionally, the 1/24 scale prototypes for "Noriko Takaya" and "Kazumi Amano" were sculpted by "Takehiko Ogami," and feature a Pale orange skin tone as their molding color. In addition to shaping the charming lines of their figures, Noriko's flowing hair ribbon and Kazumi's long hair add excellent visual tension to the main body. This product also includes water decals for the eyes of Noriko and Kazumi, commemorating the 35th anniversary of "Gunbuster" (Aim for the Top!). This is highly recommended for toy enthusiasts who love "Gunbuster" and enjoy hands-on model building!
