Following the highly acclaimed "first installment", "second installment", and "third installment" released in collaboration with Studio Ghibli, Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY's "TOMICA" (トミカ/TOMICA) "DREAM TOMICA" (ドリームトミカ) series is now launching its latest fourth installment. This new release features two creations based on "Howl's Moving Castle": "Howl's Castle" (ハウル城) and "Calcifer" (カルシファー)! Both are scheduled for release in November 2023.
First up is the "Dream TOMICA Howl's Castle," standing approximately 6 cm tall. In addition to extensively utilizing metallic colors, the castle's exterior, reinterpreted in a charming chibi (Q-version) proportion, and the finely detailed mechanical engravings are truly excellent. The small door can also be seen at the back. The overall sense of presence looks impressive, and we eagerly await feedback upon actual receipt.

Next is Calcifer, full of delightful surprises. This design is based on the scene where "Sophie" places Calcifer and a piece of firewood in a deep pot while cleaning the castle's interior. This product perfectly recreates the pitiful Calcifer clinging to the wood, about to fall. The surface of the deep pot, made of alloy, exhibits a beautiful cast texture, while Calcifer himself is crafted from transparent material. Unlike the movie's setting, the pot's support legs have been omitted and replaced with wheels added to the bottom.
