From Japan's PLEX company, distributed by X-PLUS, the popular soft vinyl figure series "DefoReal," which incorporates intricate realistic details into adorable deformed proportions, has announced its latest product from "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris," the "Iris" pre-painted finished figure. It will be available in a standard edition and a "Shonen RIC" store exclusive edition, with an estimated release in February 2024!
The great monster Iris, who appears in the film as Gamera's primary adversary, was anciently known as the evil god "Ryuseicho." It is a mysterious lifeform said to bring about the destruction of the world, and thus was sealed in egg form within a deep mountain shrine in Minami Asuka Village, Japan. The girl Ayana Hirasaka, seeking revenge against Gamera for the death of her parents, broke the seal. She named it "Iris" after her deceased pet cat and attempted to bio-fuse with it, but an accident caused Iris to undergo explosive self-evolution, transforming into a 99-meter-tall humanoid monster.
The "DefoReal Iris" pre-painted finished figure stands approximately 17 cm tall, reinterpreting the evil god with an adorable 2.5-head-tall deformed Q-version proportion, while simultaneously recreating its sharp, wild, and ferocious appearance from the film! Its distinctive single-eyed head is covered in an exoskeleton similar to Gyaos, and its entire body's robust muscle lines and carapace patterns are sculpted with extreme biological realism. The four massive tentacles extending from its back can be bent and folded, allowing for dynamic attacking poses.
The limited edition sold through X-PLUS's official channel "Shonen RIC" features built-in light-up mechanisms in the body and head, giving Iris an even more imposing presence!
