Following the release of the "KÜSTER Champagne Gold Clear Version," veteran Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo's plastic assembly model series "ARTPLA" recently announced its latest product from Hiroshi Yokoyama's "Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K)": the "Humanoid Robot Type Unmanned Interceptor Großer Hund (Three-Unit Set)" (tentative translation, ヒューマノイド型無人邀撃機グローサーフント (3機セット) )! It is scheduled for release in January 2024.
Hiroshi Yokoyama's original SF series "Ma.K" is set in the 29th century, where Earth has been devastated by the Fourth World Nuclear War, practically becoming a dead planet. However, two factions, the "Strahl Republic" and the "Earth Independent Government Mercenary Army," still vie for supremacy over this land. The rich array of toys and models derived from the combat suits and vehicles used by both sides has attracted a vast number of sci-fi military enthusiasts.
The protagonist of this release, the Großer Hund, belongs to the Strahl Army and is the product of achieving unmanned armored combat suits. Equipped with a robust frame, armor, and weaponry, it possesses overwhelming combat power far superior to the Mercenary Army's armored suits, and its size is also considerably larger. However, incidents of rampage due to AI damage have occurred multiple times. New and old types can be distinguished by their head designs, and a space-specific version was later developed.
The Großer Hund, rendered in three dimensions for the ARTPLA series, is a non-articulated assembly model, standing approximately 9.5 cm tall upon completion. The prototype was sculpted by Kaiyodo's renowned sculptor, "Genius Tani Akira," who fully reproduced the charm of Hiroshi Yokoyama's mechanical designs and the Großer Hund's abundant curved structures, meticulously detailing the head and hand areas. The standard version's molded colors are dark yellow, violet, and red-brown, while the special colors, exclusive to Kaiyodo's direct stores, are sky gray, olive drab, and brown. In addition to self-painting and customization, a limited water decal (1 sheet) can be used to create a unique appearance.
