Japan's long-established toy manufacturer "Kaiyodo" and master sculptor "Takayuki Takeya" have collaborated to create the articulated figure series "TAKEYA-Style Jizai Okimono," officially announcing their latest product from Mamoru Oshii's "Kerberos Saga" (ケルベロス・サーガ): the "Protect Gear Type 34 Special Enhanced Armor" (プロテクトギア 34年式特殊増加装甲)! It will be simultaneously released in three color variations – black, silver, and red – with an anticipated release date of December 2023.
The "Type 34 Special Enhanced Armor" brought to life this time is the armor from the radio drama "Kerberos: Steel Hunter" (ケルベロス鋼鉄の猟犬), a spin-off of the Kerberos Saga, with its design overseen by Takayuki Takeya. In the story, the "101st Armored Hunter Division," a unit directly subordinate to the German dictator during World War II, was dispatched to the intense Eastern Front after the dictator's assassination. The Type 34 Special Enhanced Armor was the exclusive equipment of this unit, serving as a symbol of tyranny.
The Protect Gear, with Takayuki Takeya serving as the overall design director, features an armor style reminiscent of Western medieval armor. The finely textured armor plates and the chainmail worn beneath are exquisitely detailed. The asymmetrical shoulder pads further emphasize its strong aesthetic appeal. The mask, full of intricate details and shaped like a dog's snout, is a major characteristic of the Kerberos Saga series. To ensure playability, sliding mechanisms have been incorporated into the armor components to minimize interference with articulation. Weapon accessories include the heavy machine gun "MG34" and the pistol "Mauser C96." Not only does the mechanical gun body feature a wooden-textured grip, but the MG34's front bipod can also be recreated in its deployed state using interchangeable parts. The equipment backpack is also remarkably detailed.
▼ In addition to the classic black, the "Protect Gear Type 34 Special Enhanced Armor" will also be available in red and silver versions. The red version, in particular, features green paintwork for the eyes.
