Following the SUSANOO SOUEN, Kotobukiya (Japan), the manufacturer of the "Megami Device" plastic model kit series that combines mechanical elements with beautiful girls, today announced new details for "KOUBU SUSANOO GUREN," a new Susanoo derivative model that stands in contrast to Souen. Pre-orders will open starting October 24, 2023.
KOUBU SUSANOO is a new generation Megami Device designed by illustrator Nidy-2D- as the successor to the ASRA series. It features a new, larger Machineca body sculpted by Masaki Apsy with re-adjusted proportions, making it taller than previous products. Standing at an impressive 20 cm and comprising 401 to 600 parts, it has been highly praised since its release. The powerful yet aesthetically pleasing body is suitable for various elaborate armaments. The official releases include the enhanced forms "Guren" (crimson) and "Souen" (azure), inspired by flames, one red and one blue, injecting a stronger sense of fantasy and mythology compared to the original version.
Most parts of "KOUBU SUSANOO GUREN" are modified from the Souen version. The molding colors of the body and outer armor have been changed to a vibrant red and gold palette, and several flame-shaped effect parts are now molded in clear orange, creating a cool appearance of crimson flames entwined with golden armor, befitting the name "Guren." However, the flames on both sides of the hairband and on the chest are newly sculpted parts, presenting a symmetrical design that is reversed from Souen.
For the body, the hair parts are molded in a faint clear pink, and the skin tone uses Kotobukiya Skin Color D (brown), which is deeper than Souen's. Three new expression parts are included: "Smiling Face 1," "Smiling Face 2," and "Winking Smile," offering a completely opposite "heavy makeup gal" style compared to Souen's understated coolness. The limb parts can be replaced with mechanical limb parts conforming to the "AUV Frame" specifications. Compared to previous Megami Device series products, this specification increases the number of usable 3mm pegs, enhancing expandability and customization convenience.
The magnificent red and gold armor parts, the circular backpack on the back, and the flame effects can not only be freely repositioned and reshaped using the common 3mm pegs but also form various armament modes. These include the wild "Berserker Mode," the phoenix-like "Beast Mode," and even the ultimate combined form with half blue and half red by using Souen parts. The greatsword-type main weapon, in addition to its regular sword form with deployed flame effects, can also be reconfigured into forms such as a long whip, a spear, or a tail.
