The alloy model series『HI-METAL R』, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today announced the latest product from the classic anime "Armored Trooper VOTOMS", the「Scopedog Red Shoulder Custom」, scheduled for release in March 2024.
The official main AT「ATM-09-ST Scopedog」, developed by the Gilgamesh Army, was the most mass-produced unit during the Hundred Years' War. In the series, in addition to being piloted by the protagonist Kiriko, its extremely high versatility led to it being modified into various derivative specifications and utilized by different units. Among them, the infamous "Red Shoulder Battalion" also adopted the Scopedog as its standard unit, with its most prominent feature being the red paint on its right shoulder. Kiriko once disguised his Scopedog as an unsettling Red Shoulder Battalion specification to combat the public security police, though the position of the red shoulder armor was reversed compared to a true Red Shoulder unit.
The「HI-METAL R Scopedog Red Shoulder Custom」recreates Kiriko's Red Shoulder disguise specification from the series with a highly articulated figure approximately 165mm tall. The entire unit utilizes two shades of green parts to express its body color, faithfully reproducing rich armor surface details, body markings, and the distinctive triple-rotating lens on its head, resulting in a cool and realistic appearance. Some joints are made with die-cast parts, providing both joint stability and a wide range of motion, allowing for dynamic poses such as dual-wielding firearms and crouched firing.
The accessories also include the full equipment specifications seen in the series, featuring an abundant arsenal such as a rocket launcher, heavy machine gun, shoulder missile pods, Gatling gun, heavy firearm, fire control backpack, and standard green shoulder armor, allowing for free conversion between the Red Shoulder Custom and standard Scopedog configurations.
Furthermore, the product includes an articulated figure of the protagonist「Kiriko」, with interchangeable parts such as gun-holding hands, painted/unpainted head, and helmeted head. By opening the Scopedog's head, the intricate cockpit interior is revealed, allowing for the recreation of boarding and exiting scenes with the Kiriko figure!
