Japanese toy company Kotobukiya's "ARTFX J" series, known for its exquisite three-dimensional renditions of Japanese anime and game characters, will release its latest "My Hero Academia" themed product: the "Izuku Midoriya Dark Deku Ver." 1/8 scale figure. The suggested retail price is 35,000 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in June 2024.
Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist of "My Hero Academia," nicknamed "Deku," was initially somewhat timid and prone to crying, and even a rare "Quirkless" individual in society. However, due to his deep admiration for the No. 1 Hero "All Might" and his immense longing to become a Pro Hero, he believed he had to put in several times more effort than others and was willing to sacrifice himself to help people. These qualities earned him All Might's recognition, and he inherited the "One For All" torch.
The "ARTFX J Izuku Midoriya Dark Deku Ver." 1/8 scale figure is based on his "darkened" state from the anime, where he fights alone, separated from his comrades, capturing an impressive pose! His torn and damaged hero costume adds many sharp lines to the overall look; the wing-like mask and his lost, fierce eyes convey an intense sense of intimidation! Coupled with weathering and shading paint details, it further showcases Midoriya's transformation into something almost monstrous, far from a typical hero.
Standing 29 cm tall, the figure features a massive floating effect base that creates a dynamic pose of Dark Deku leaping through the air, unleashing his "Blackwhip" Quirk. Black energy whips surge wildly from his body, while his form is enveloped by blue lightning-like effects, presenting a powerful and oppressive sculpt.
Additionally, an interchangeable head part is included, revealing Midoriya's true face without his mask, featuring a desperate expression mixed with various emotions, significantly altering the overall atmosphere! With the included "tear stickers," you can depict Midoriya in a tearful state, which is truly heartbreaking~~~ Please behold this hero who bravely faces adversity and continues to save and dedicate himself to others!
