Japanese figure manufacturer ALTER, renowned for its high quality and beloved by collectors of high-end bishoujo figures, recently announced the latest product from《Uma Musume Pretty Derby》, the "Rice Shower 1/7 Scale Figure", slated for release in July 2024.
The popular Uma Musume Rice Shower is based on the real-life racehorse of the same name, known as the "Black Assassin" in 1990s Japan. Despite her small stature, she excelled in long-distance races of 3000 meters or more. In the story, through diligent and rigorous training, she successfully halted Mihono Bourbon's Triple Crown bid and Mejiro McQueen's three consecutive victories in the Spring Tenno Sho. However, she was branded a villain by their supporters. In reality, Rice Shower suffered a tragic fall and fracture, leading to immediate euthanasia. But《Uma Musume》gave Rice Shower a different future, where she brilliantly won the Spring Tenno Sho, reversing her villainous reputation and earning the cheers and blessings of the audience.
The "Rice Shower 1/7 Scale Figure" brings Rice Shower to life at an impressive height of approximately 26 cm. Through intricate sculpting and color application, her race outfit, imbued with mysterious and assassin-like elements, is faithfully recreated. Her hair and tail parts are crafted from clear material, conveying a delicate and dynamic appearance. The outfit boasts beautiful color tones and finely detailed wrinkles. The symbolic blue roses on the clear parts are finished with a pearlescent coating, lending a luxurious texture. Furthermore, rich details such as the metallic texture of her dagger, the stitching on its leather sheath, and the horseshoe on her shoe soles are meticulously reproduced.
Beyond the gorgeous outfit, a major highlight is Rice Shower's facial expression, which perfectly captures her pathetic yet charming demeanor. Her seemingly moist, tear-filled eyes evoke a strong desire in trainers to protect her. The figure also comes with two interchangeable face parts: a "worried face" and a "smiling face." These expressions seem to recreate her anxiety about being branded a villain again after winning the Tenno Sho in the story, and the subsequent shift in her emotional state to a smile after earning the audience's cheers and blessings.
