The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS" series, issued by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, which combines metallic texture coating and an alloy frame, today officially unveiled the full details of its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam AGE," the "Gundam AGE-FX," scheduled for release in May 2024.
Gundam AGE-FX is the protagonist mobile suit piloted by Kio Asuno, the grandson, in the fourth part of "Mobile Suit Gundam AGE," which features three generations. This machine was extensively modified based on data from Gundam AGE-3, boasting high firepower, high mobility, and high defense, with performance far surpassing previous AGE series mobile suits. It can be considered the strongest mobile suit, representing the culmination of the AGE System. It was also specifically tuned for Kio, who awakened as an X-Rounder, equipped with 14 wireless guided weapons, "C-Funnels," that leverage X-Rounder abilities, allowing for omnidirectional attacks as blades or shields. The machine also features an "FX Burst Mode" that removes its limitations; upon activation, the mobile suit emits a blue glow, significantly enhancing its mobility, defense, and melee combat performance.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Gundam AGE-FX" has been thoroughly supervised and redesigned by mechanical designer Kanetake Ebikawa to feature richer detailed sculpting, showcasing more layered, stepped armor lines and a cooler physique proportion than the original in its approximately 14 cm tall articulated form. The main frame of the mobile suit is constructed with numerous alloy parts, providing both strength and a satisfyingly heavy feel when handled. The exterior is also finished with a more substantial blue and white coating, and adorned with abundant body markings.
All joints and the C-Funnel connection points on the shoulders feature flexible articulation. The legs can bend significantly through multi-stage joints, allowing the thighs and calves to almost touch, and the shoulder joints are equipped with a new pull-out mechanism that allows them to extend significantly backward. The weaponry also includes a rich array of accessories and mechanisms: the Stang Rifle can transform into "Charge Mode" without needing to swap parts; the backpack can detach and attach to the nose to form the Core Fighter; and beam saber effect parts can be attached to the beam sabers stored in both arms.
Naturally, all 14 of the mobile suit's most distinctive "C-Funnels" can be detached. Paired with the dedicated display stand and included clear support parts, it's possible to recreate scenes of the C-Funnels surrounding the mobile suit, ready to attack, or forming a shield in front of the machine.
