Bandai Namco Group's Gashapon toy brand GASHAPON has announced the latest product in its Gundam-themed action figure gashapon series, 'CAPSULE ACTION,' featuring 'Char's Zaku II' from Mobile Suit Gundam, slated for release in March 2024.
The MS-06 Zaku II was the mass-produced main mobile suit used by the Principality of Zeon forces during the One Year War. It boasted high mobility, a wide array of armaments, strong adaptability, and an easily modifiable frame, making it widely deployed across various battlefields in space and on Earth. In the early stages of the war, it suppressed the Earth Federation Forces, whose mobile suit technology was still immature, becoming a symbolic mobile suit for the Principality of Zeon. The most famous among them was the custom unit of 'The Red Comet' Char Aznable, who gained renown at the Battle of Loum. Its appearance, aside from the red paint scheme matching its moniker, was no different from a standard commander type. Thanks to Char's astonishing piloting skills, the mobile suit appeared to move three times faster in the eyes of onlookers, though in reality, its thrust was only increased by approximately 30%.
The 'CAPSULE ACTION Char's Zaku II' is a modification of the previously released standard Zaku. It faithfully reproduces the original design's silhouette, including the spiked left shoulder, and the power pipes on the head, waist, and legs. Numerous panel lines have been added to the sleek curved armor, enhancing the richness of detail, and the head, equipped with a blade antenna, is recreated using new parts.
Standing at approximately 9 cm tall, it features flexible articulated joints in the neck, waist, and limbs, allowing for dynamic battle poses with the included Zaku Machine Gun and Zaku Bazooka. This gashapon offers two armor color variations: the iconic red armor that replicates Char's personal color scheme, and a colorless transparent armor that reveals the internal articulated frame, available for collection.
