TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., which releases its robot-themed articulated action figures in the "ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E." series, today announced that the first product from "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam," the "Gundam Mk-II (Titans Specification)," is scheduled for release in April 2024.
In Universal Century 0087, the radical Earth-supremacist elite unit of the Earth Federation Forces, the "Titans," sought to assert their authority and legitimacy over the pro-space faction "AEUG." To this end, they excluded engineers with Zeon backgrounds and appointed protagonist Kamille Bidan's father, Franklin Bidan, to lead the development of a successor to the "RX-78 Gundam" series, the "RX-178 Gundam Mk-II", a mobile suit that aimed to surpass the original RX-78 which had turned the tide of the One Year War. Although this machine possessed an extremely similar external appearance and armament, its entire construction utilized the latest contemporary technology, with the implementation of a "movable frame" significantly enhancing its mobility, expandability, and ease of maintenance.
The "ROBOT魂 Gundam Mk-II (Titans Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E." is produced based on the anime's design drawings, recreating this jet-black mobile suit, a symbol of the Titans' power, at an articulated size of approximately 13 cm in height. Its exterior features refined armor surfaces and elegant lines characteristic of Kunio Okawara's style. Flexible articulated joints are designed throughout the neck, chest, abdomen, and limbs, allowing it to recreate famous poses from the design drawings, such as bending forward, tilting the head, and shrugging the shoulders. The knee armor also incorporates a frame-interlocking mechanism for natural movement.
A rich array of armament accessories includes a Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, a Shield, a Hyper Bazooka, and a Head-mounted Vulcan Pod System, among others. These can be combined with Beam Rifle firing effects, Beam Saber blades, and backpack thruster effects to recreate more immersive battle scenes. Furthermore, the unit numbers on the shoulders and knees can be changed to specifications for units 01, 02, or 03 using interchangeable parts.
