Following the first release of the original Gundam, Bandai Namco's "Mobile Suit Gundam" themed Gundam head bust finished model, "GUNDAM HEAD Collection," has announced a new color version, the "RX-78-2 Gundam Rollout Color Version," slated for release in December 2023. This product is currently available exclusively as a Double 11 limited item at Bandai's official online flagship store in China.
The "GUNDAM HEAD Collection" is a series of Gundam head busts produced at a human scale (HUMAN SIZE). The Gundam head, including the antenna and base, stands approximately 47 cm tall, allowing fans to appreciate the Gundam's cool design in an impressively large size. To ensure it doesn't appear monotonous at this scale, numerous intricate details, distinct from the original settings, have been added. Another major highlight is the built-in LED illumination mechanism in the head; by inserting batteries and activating a hidden switch, the forehead, eyes, and other head cameras will light up. The base is a common specification for the series and can be freely detached.
The newly released "RX-78-2 Gundam Rollout Color Version" is a recolored variant based on the first release. The original white armor has been replaced with various silver paint applications, mimicking the unpainted, factory-fresh state of the mobile suit, thereby presenting a richer, heavier metallic feel. The remaining parts are identical to the standard version, meticulously reproducing internal structures such as the Vulcan cannon muzzles and intake/exhaust vents. Furthermore, the front and back of the antenna, the visor, and the side and rear armor feature abundant details that differ from the original settings. After inserting 3 AA batteries, the front and rear head cameras and the twin eyes will illuminate.
