The popular die-cast toy series 『METAL BUILD』, released by BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, has for the first time unveiled prototypes of five new models from《Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY》: the "Gundam Astray Red / Blue / Gold / Green & Mirage Frame (tentative name)". Release dates are yet to be determined.
The Gundam Astray series are mobile suits completed by Orb's state-owned enterprise "Morgenroete Inc." during its collaboration with the Atlantic Federation, by illicitly utilizing the Atlantic Federation's MS development technology to enhance national defense capabilities. However, due to the failure in analyzing "Phase Shift Armor" technology, the armor was instead made from foamed metal, and its surface area was significantly reduced to maintain mobility. Although most of its defensive capabilities were lost, its excellent maneuverability compensated for this flaw. Among them, the Gold Frame, featuring a golden frame, was developed with special specifications, allowing it to utilize GAT series armaments manufactured by the Earth Alliance.
This time, Bandai has simultaneously showcased five Gundam Astray series units along with their respective dedicated armaments. While no differences from previously released versions have been announced yet, the distinct lower body design is noticeable, suggesting the adoption of the same new lower body as the "Gundam Astray RED DRAGONICS". Currently, only the "Gundam Astray Blue Frame" is confirmed to be released as a "CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS" exclusive item.
