Kadokawa Group Japan has officially announced today the first product in its brand new plastic model series, "KADOKAWA PLASTIC MODEL SERIES (KADOPLA for short)", featuring "Megumin" from the anime "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!". It is scheduled for release in August 2024. This product will be simultaneously launched in four versions: "Standard Edition", "DX Edition", "Standard Edition KADOKAWA Special Set", and "DX Edition KADOKAWA Special Set".
The "KADOKAWA PLASTIC MODEL SERIES" aims to capture the charm of characters from Kadokawa's published works through plastic model specifications. The model designs feature precise color separation and part division combined with pre-painted parts, while also maintaining articulation in various joints. Even a straight build can largely reproduce the character's appearance from the series, allowing fans to recreate famous scenes and signature poses from the story.
The first release, "Megumin", is produced based on her anime character design. Utilizing multi-colored molded parts such as skin tone, brown, red, yellow, and pre-painted parts, simply assembling the model will result in a colorful, fully articulated Megumin figure approximately 15 cm tall. Her entire body features flexible articulated joints and comes with a wealth of interchangeable accessories for play, including three pre-printed face parts, multiple hand gestures, a detachable hat and cape, Chomusuke, and the staff's orb can be swapped from its normal state to a purple one when casting Explosion magic.
The DX Edition, which includes even more accessories, also adds an original design articulated swimsuit body, dedicated hand gestures for the swimsuit body, and a "blushing face" interchangeable expression not found in the Standard Edition, allowing you to assemble an additional swimsuit Megumin!
The KADOKAWA Special Set Edition comes with a limited bonus "Thin Blade Nippers Megumin Color Ver.". These nippers are a collaboration with Japanese tool manufacturer MINESHIMA, and their specifications are identical to the "D-25 Premium Thin Blade Nippers (4902944114408)". However, the grip's rubber has been replaced with Megumin's signature red, the metal parts feature Chomusuke and KonoSuba patterns, and the protective cover is printed with a cute Megumin illustration.
Furthermore, for every product purchased on KADOKAWA's e-commerce website, customers will receive a "Explosion Magic Effect Part" bonus. This bonus features colorful effects printed on PET film, which can be combined with the Megumin figure to recreate scenes of her casting Explosion magic.
