The alloy action figure "MORTAL MIND" series, released by Chinese toy brand CCSTOYS, recently officially announced the 35th-anniversary commemorative product "Gunbuster", from the classic anime "Aim for the Top! Gunbuster", slated for release in February 2024.
Gunbuster (GUNBUSTER) is a superluminal, versatile, large-scale transforming and combining mechanical weapon developed by Coach Koichiro Ohta. It is formed by the combination of two single-person space battleships, possessing an astonishing 240-meter height that defies common sense, and two extremely powerful Buster Reactors. It can unleash overwhelming power to perform various martial arts and utilize various armaments against space monsters. This machine is primarily piloted by the protagonist, Noriko Takaya, who, through extraordinary "effort" and "perseverance," enables Gunbuster to achieve almost invincible strength, capable of executing powerful moves such as the Super Lightning Kick.
The "MORTAL MIND Gunbuster" is the most substantial product in the series to date. Its impressive 35 cm tall body is based on the anime's design, incorporating rich original details with a modern flair. While the original combination mechanism has been omitted, this allows the alloy frame to provide more robust and flexible articulation, along with various deployment and lighting mechanisms. It not only boasts a cool physique but also features extensive metallic paintwork, conveying the majestic presence of a giant battleship.
Weapon accessories include a cape with weathered texture and multiple points of articulation, an assembleable Buster Tomahawk, and a Buster Home Run Bat with a magnetic lighting mechanism.
The hidden cannon ports on the shoulders and calves feature deployment mechanisms. Opening the front hatch on the shoulders reveals illuminated "Guts" (根性) and "Effort" (努力) characters, recreating scenes from the show. The arms and legs not only have armor deployment mechanisms but can also be fitted with numerous discharge spike effect parts. Effect parts can also be magnetically attached to the soles of the feet to recreate the signature special move, the "Lightning Kick"! Furthermore, the most iconic scene of "pulling out the Buster Reactor" can also be achieved with this product. The chest features excellent internal sculpting, allowing the armor, ribs, and Buster Reactor parts to be removed layer by layer, and by swapping parts, the scene of the right hand pulling out the Buster Reactor can be recreated!
