The renowned Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS" is set to launch a new series, "ACTION Alloy". The first product in this series is none other than GOLION, the protagonist robot from the classic anime "Beast King GOLION"! It is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2024, with a suggested retail price of 1,160 Hong Kong Dollars.
Most fans are undoubtedly familiar with the term "Voltron" (聖戰士). It actually encompasses two robot anime series produced by Toei Japan: one is "Beast King GOLION" (百獣王ゴライオン) (1981), and the other is "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV) (1982). Originally, these two anime were unrelated. However, their rights were later acquired by the American company WEP, and they were combined into a single work, "Voltron: Defender of the Universe". When introduced and broadcast in Taiwan, Voltron was translated as "聖戰士", which remains the most familiar name to people in Taiwan.
Opening video of the "Beast King GOLION" anime theme song, performed by the late singer Ichiro Mizuki:
This Voltron figure from ACTION TOYS' new "ACTION Alloy" series faithfully recreates Voltron's majestic appearance in proportional scale, standing approximately 22 cm tall. Both its separated and combined forms can be fully reproduced. Not only can it transform into its five lion forms! It can also recreate the original design of the lions' retracted legs through interchangeable parts. In terms of weapon accessories, it includes Voltron's signature weapon, the "Blazing Sword" (十王劍), a shield, a spinning laser blade, twin swords, and the individual weapons and equipment mounted on each of the five lions.
