Japanese toy brand ELECTRIC TOYS' new soft vinyl toy brand, "SOFVIPS" (ソフビップス), previously released soft vinyl figures of Mega Man and Proto Man. Now, the series is set to release new color versions for both in April 2024: Mega Man in "Atomic Fire" color and Proto Man in "Water Shield" color, priced at 9,350 JPY and 9,900 JPY respectively.
Released by CAPCOM in December 1987 on the Nintendo Famicom, "Mega Man" was the first title in the series. It adopted a non-linear stage progression, allowing players to freely choose stages, which was quite novel at the time. Initially, protagonist Mega Man only had basic bullets, but by defeating enemy bosses, he could acquire their weapons. The game also introduced a weapon weakness system, similar to rock-paper-scissors, making it enjoyable for players to discover the corresponding weapons. After its release, it gained immense popularity among players, selling 810,000 copies. A sequel was released the following year in 1988, and it has since become one of the classic series.

These new color versions of the SOFVIPS Mega Man and Proto Man soft vinyl figures by Electric Toys are entirely different from their original colors, offering a completely distinct feel. First, for Mega Man, this version features an earthy yellow paired with yellow, which is the color scheme for "Heat Man"'s special weapon in "Mega Man 2". When Mega Man acquires the boss's weapon, "Atomic Fire", he transforms from blue to this earthy yellow hue. The soft vinyl figure stands 17 cm tall, identical to the previous regular version, with CAPCOM's certification engraved on the sole of its foot. Mega Man's signature weapon, the "Rock Buster", and his hand can be swapped using interchangeable parts.

It offers a distinct feel compared to Proto Man's original red. Standing 16.5 cm tall, just like the previous Proto Man, his shield and hand parts can be freely interchanged.
