Issued by BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., the 'FW GUNDAM CONVERGE' Shokugan series, which carves out precise structures and details at an average height of 55mm, today announced the latest product, "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE Gundam Astray RED & BLUE Set", scheduled for release in May 2024.
The Gundam Astray series consists of mobile suits completed by Orb's state-owned enterprise "Morgenroete Inc." during its collaboration with the Atlantic Federation, by illicitly utilizing the Atlantic Federation's MS development technology to enhance national defense capabilities. However, due to the failure in analyzing "Phase Shift Armor" technology, the armor was instead made from foamed metal, and its surface area was significantly reduced to maintain mobility. Although most of its defensive capabilities were lost, its excellent maneuverability compensated for this deficiency. Among them, the Gold Frame, possessing a golden frame, was developed with special specifications, allowing it to use GAT series armaments manufactured by the Alliance.
The "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE Gundam Astray RED & BLUE Set" product includes two mobile suits, the Gundam Astray Red Frame and Blue Frame. They adopt the same sculpt as the EX10 and EX11 releases from 2016, featuring high-density details and adding 10 new body marking decals. Furthermore, the display base has been changed from the series' familiar clear molded base to a matte black base printed with a metallic special pattern.
The armaments for the Gundam Astray Red Frame include a Beam Saber, Shield, Gerbera Straight, Flight Unit, and Baku Head Twin Beam Saber. The Gundam Astray Blue Frame includes a Beam Rifle, Shield, M68 'Cattus' 500mm Recoilless Rifle, 8-tube Short-Range Guided Missile Launcher, and M68 'Pardus' 3-tube Short-Range Guided Missile Launcher, among other abundant armaments. The weapons of both units can also be interchanged using common connection points.
