Bandai Namco Filmworks recently announced the latest product from the sci-fi robot anime 《Gunbuster (トップをねらえ!)》, the "Noriko Takaya 35th Anniversary Ver." 1/7 scale PVC pre-painted complete figure. Pre-orders are currently open at major retailers such as A-on STORE, PB, and UNION CREATIVE, with an estimated shipping date of November 2024.
《Gunbuster》, originally conceived by "Toshio Okada" and directed by "Hideaki Anno," is set in the 21st century. At this time, human technology has advanced to the point where the universe can be explored with massive faster-than-light battleships. However, Earth civilization is simultaneously under severe threat from the "Space Terrible Monster Crowd." The protagonist, "Noriko Takaya," is a student at Okinawa Girls' Space High School, striving to pilot humanoid mechs and venture into space. Later, in the cosmos, which has become a fierce battlefield, she pilots humanity's last resort, the giant robot "GunBuster," to combat the Space Monsters, shouldering the future of humanity alongside her "big sister" "Kazumi Amano."
This figure stands approximately 23 cm tall, designed based on the character poster drawn by character designer "Haruhiko Mikimoto." It depicts Noriko Takaya during her Okinawa Girls' Space High School era, exuding a youthful, girlish charm. The facial expression and the intricate detailing of her eyes are particularly outstanding, fully showcasing the allure of 80s bishōjo characters. The sculpting of her physique, the dynamic flow of her yellow hair ribbon, and the wrinkles in her tracksuit caused by movement are also meticulously rendered. Furthermore, in line with the setting of water spraying from a faucet and her undergoing training, several areas on Noriko's body, including her neck, hands, and tracksuit, feature exquisite detailing to represent water splashes and sweat effects – truly stunning.
▼ Pre-ordering at A-on STORE also includes an acrylic smartphone stand bonus, designed based on an illustration by Haruhiko Mikimoto.
