The renowned Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS", under its Tokusatsu Alloy product line, will release alloy toys featuring the vehicle forms of the two protagonists, Skyzel and Granzel, from the classic late 1970s Japanese Tokusatsu series "Space Ironmen Kyodain". These are the "Sky Jet" (スカイジェット) and the "Gran Car" (グランカー). Scheduled for release in Q3 2024, both items will be priced at HKD 560 each.
"Space Ironmen Kyodain" (宇宙鉄人キョーダイン, also translated as Space Ironmen Brothers) is a Tokusatsu television series produced by Toei Japan, which began airing in April 1976. Its original creator is the renowned Japanese manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori (石ノ森 章太郎). The story primarily follows Dr. Hayama, a mechanical scientist, and his two elder sons, Joji and Ryuji. While celebrating the birthday of their youngest brother, Kenji, they are captured by the Dada Star Aliens (ダダ星人), who covet Dr. Hayama's knowledge. Subsequently, the Dada Star Aliens dispatch their robot army (ダダロイド) to invade Earth. A year later, two robots suddenly appear via rocket. These are bio-robots created by Dr. Hayama, into which he transplanted the personalities of Joji and Ryuji, becoming Skyzel and Granzel, respectively. The youngest, Kenji, then embarks on a mission with them to protect Earth.
The red-colored Skyzel (スカイゼル) is imbued with the personality of the elder brother, Joji. It features flight wings on both sides of its head and can transform into its fighter jet form, "SKY JET" (スカイジェット), reaching speeds approaching light speed (sub-light speed). It can also carry Granzel, who transforms into a missile, attaching it to its underside.
The blue-colored Granzel (グランゼル) is imbued with the personality of Ryuji. It can transform into its vehicle form, "Gran Car" (グランカー), achieving speeds of Mach 1. It can carry Skyzel, who transforms into a missile, for ground-to-air attacks. Skyzel can also remain untransformed and ride on Granzel to launch weapon attacks.
These two alloy toys, the Sky Jet and Gran Car, released by ACTION TOYS, measure approximately 16 cm in length. They faithfully reproduce the original forms of both vehicles as seen in the series, and each comes with its own dedicated display stand. Neither product features transformation capabilities. When displayed alongside the previously introduced Skyzel and Granzel articulated action figures, they can recreate the atmosphere even more effectively.
