The dinosaur-themed plastic model kit series "PLANNOSAURUS," released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced its seventh product, "Pteranodon," scheduled for release on January 20, 2024.

Strictly speaking, the "Pteranodon" released this time is actually a Pteranodon that appeared in the Late Cretaceous period. Its most prominent features are the significant degeneration of its teeth and tail, reducing body weight to facilitate long-distance flight. Its head possesses a long crest and a narrow, beak-like mouth similar to modern birds. The model meticulously recreates the wing membrane composed of dense muscle fibers, the pteroid bone used as an elevator, the special structure of the scapula and trunk vertebral joints, and the massive internal mouth structure, all based on the latest theories and restoration research.

The "PLANNOSAURUS Pteranodon" can be assembled without the need for nippers or glue. The parts not only feature precise and meticulously researched sculpting but are also divided into two layers: skeleton and outer skin. After assembly, you can choose to display it in either its fossil state or dinosaur state. In addition to using a clear stand to recreate its flying posture, you can also recreate a landing posture with folded wings by swapping out parts!
