Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya recently announced that the fourth product in its new original plastic model kit series "Megalo Maria", "SEEKER", is scheduled for release in May 2024.
The new "Megalo Maria" series is Kotobukiya's first product with the vast majority of its parts manufactured in Japan. Unlike previous plastic model kits featuring beautiful girl-like humans or mecha girls, this series adopts the new "Marionette Style" body, which has a humanoid puppet appearance and prioritizes "articulation" and "expressiveness." Its unique composite worldview connects various Kotobukiya plastic model kit series in a "play-within-a-play" format, allowing for infinite possibilities in play.
The fourth character, "SEEKER", is the first villain character, designed with an assassin motif. Beneath its cloak-like head armor, a silver-white skull mask covers its face, and its entire ivory-white armor incorporates mysterious skeletal elements. The kit's form is based on the "Marionette Style" articulated body, featuring approximately 50 points of articulation within its roughly 16 cm height. This includes highly flexible shoulders, elbows, independently moving left and right hip joints, and independently articulated knee armor, allowing the figure to perform extremely fluid, lifelike movements. Additionally, it boasts new designs such as a triple-jointed wrist that can bend 180 degrees to reveal hidden weapon connection points, and a choice between independently moving or integrated hip armor.
Compared to previously released characters, SEEKER features a cool design that exposes its internal metallic sternum and spine. Its head has an evil-looking third eye on the forehead, and the skull mask can be freely attached and detached. It also comes with a pair of bone-shaped small scythes as weapons, presenting a stance reminiscent of an enemy monster from a tokusatsu series.
