BANDAI CANDY, the Candy Toy Division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., today announced the latest release in its popular FW GUNDAM CONVERGE candy toy series, the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE #25", which features even more intricate and bold styling with the "♯ (Sharp)" designation. This new installment is scheduled for release in May 2024.
"FW GUNDAM CONVERGE #25" transforms mobile suits from the *Mobile Suit Gundam* series into 55mm tall SD proportions, boasting sharp, cool styling and high-density details. Following the previous release's "Rising Freedom Gundam" and "Immortal Justice Gundam", this lineup once again introduces two new mobile suits from *Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM*: "Strike Freedom Gundam Type II" and "Mighty Striker Pack". The other four units include Wing Gundam from *Gundam Wing*, Jagd Doga (Gyunei Guss / Quess Paraya Custom) from *Char's Counterattack*, and the Ball from the original *Gundam*.
The protagonist Kira Yamato's new mobile suit, the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, is a new machine improved with Morgenroete, Inc.'s latest technology. This upgrade occurred half a year before the main story of *FREEDOM*, after the original Strike Freedom Gundam was shot down during a foiled terrorist attempt to steal it. While its external appearance hasn't undergone significant changes, all its armaments, except for the high-energy beam rifles, have been updated. Notably, it secretly houses a powerful "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" in its forehead, though it cannot be used in this form due to its excessive destructive power and high energy consumption.
When combined with Lacus Clyne's new enhanced equipment, the "Mighty Striker Pack," to form the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, it can disperse nano-particles via psycho-wave conduction and unleash a wide-range, powerful high-voltage current to destroy enemy mobile suits. Simultaneously, the most powerful weapon hidden in its head, the "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon," becomes usable. Furthermore, to counter enemies with strong beam resistance, the mobile suit is equipped with a sharp physical sword called "Futsunomitama."
No.291 Strike Freedom Gundam Type II
Utilizing completely new parts, the in-show design is faithfully立体化, reproducing the detailed differences from the original Strike Freedom. The characteristic gold frame parts are finished with a glossy gold paint. It comes with two handheld high-energy beam rifles. The "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings mounted on the back are also newly sculpted, but for the purpose of combining with the "Mighty Striker Pack," they are designed to be non-articulated, prioritizing a cool aesthetic.
No.292 Mighty Striker Pack
Also utilizing completely new parts to bring the in-show design to life, it includes a dedicated stand for individual display. The characteristic gold parts in the center of the unit feature the same gold paint as the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II. By detaching the "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wing backpack, the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II can combine with the Mighty Striker Pack to form the "Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam." The wings can expand vertically, and their base can swing forward and backward via two-axis articulation. The new physical sword armament, "Futsunomitama," can be removed from its mounting rack and equipped in hand.
