BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Bandai Co., Ltd. Japan, recently announced the launch of a new Shokugan series themed around "Ultraman", "Shodo Alpha Ultraman Kaiju". The first wave, featuring four articulated monster figures, is scheduled for release in June 2024.
▼ Ancient Monster Gomora
"Shodo Alpha Ultraman Kaiju" is an articulated monster Shokugan series designed to complement "Shodo Alpha Ultraman". Some monsters are modified from the previously released "SHODO Ultraman VS" series, while others are entirely new sculpts. Standing at approximately 10 cm tall, these figures boast intricate detailing and paintwork reminiscent of their on-screen suits, along with flexible articulation. They can be paired with Ultraman figures from the same series to recreate various battle scenes.
▼ Skull Monster Red King
The first wave of monsters includes "Ancient Monster Gomora", "Skull Monster Red King", "Space Ninja Baltan Seijin", and "Vicious Alien Mephilas Seijin". Gomora, crafted with entirely new parts, faithfully reproduces its on-screen suit design. Its jaw, limbs, and two-section tail all feature articulated joints, with the tail even capable of recreating the appearance of exposed muscle tissue after being severed.
▼ Space Ninja Baltan Seijin
Red King and Baltan Seijin are based on modifications from the previously released "SHODO Ultraman VS" series, with new head parts used to adjust their proportional balance. Red King's body coloring, which previously only had paint on the main body parts and looked somewhat like a corn cob elsewhere, now features a light blue paint application throughout. Baltan Seijin also boasts richer shading compared to its old version, giving its body color more depth. Finally, while Mephilas Seijin's black body uses molded plastic colors, its head utilizes two shades of silver, clear orange, and clear blue paint to recreate a glowing effect.
