The Football Emperor appears! GOOD SMILE COMPANY's affordable PVC painted finished product series, "POP UP PARADE", is scheduled to release a character from the classic football manga "Captain Tsubasa" (キャプテン翼) in July 2024: Germany's Football Emperor, "Karl Heinz Schneider"! The price is 4,800 JPY.
Created by manga artist Yoichi Takahashi, "Captain Tsubasa" has been around for over 40 years. Protagonist Tsubasa Ozora's famous quote, "Football is my friend," has inspired many boys to become football players. The story depicts Tsubasa Ozora and his Nankatsu Elementary teammates battling strong opponents from various regions, culminating in a decisive match against his rival and competitor Kojiro Hyuga's Meiwa Elementary. Later, they form the Japan national team to compete around the world, creating many classic scenes.
Karl Heinz Schneider (カール・ハインツ・シュナイダー) can be said to be Tsubasa Ozora's ultimate rival in the original work. With his golden hair, he belongs to the German team, possessing skills comparable to Tsubasa and strength not inferior to Kojiro Hyuga. He holds a very resounding title, "The Football Emperor," and his special move, the "Fire Shoot," is almost unstoppable, its power even surpassing Hyuga's Tiger Shot. He even injured Wakashimazu's right hand with this shot during a match. When he was with the German Hamburg team, he was teammates with Genzo Wakabayashi, and their collaboration helped the team win many awards.
This POP UP PARADE Karl Heinz Schneider figure stands approximately 16 cm tall, faithfully recreating his appearance from the original work. He features his signature golden hair, a red and white striped jersey with the number 10, symbolizing the team's ace, and a football stopped at his feet. Coupled with his serious expression, he looks as if he's about to unleash his special move, exuding a truly imperial aura.
