Further information has finally emerged for the highly anticipated LEGO Harry Potter themed product from the Danish LEGO toy company, item number 76429, the "Talking Sorting Hat"! It is expected to be released on March 1, 2024, alongside six other sets, with a suggested retail price of US$79.99.
Comprising a total of 561 pieces, the completed Sorting Hat model stands approximately 25 cm tall (including the base). It utilizes a large number of dark brown bricks to construct the hat's wrinkled texture, with its face-like contours and wide brim looking excellent. The tip of the hat also features a movable mechanism to recreate the dynamic motion of the Sorting Hat speaking. Speaking of "speaking," LEGO has made a new attempt by incorporating a purple sound-emitting electronic part into this Sorting Hat model. While the activation design for the sound effects is not yet clear, it is confirmed that there will be 31 different sound combinations to play with – truly awesome! You can even wear it on your head (though it's a bit small) to reenact a student eagerly awaiting their house assignment.
Another major selling point is the included Harry Potter LEGO minifigure. The closed-eyes, very nervous head piece and the minifigure-scale Sorting Hat piece are highly collectible! Coupled with the display base for the Sorting Hat itself, featuring the four house crests – "Gryffindor," "Ravenclaw," "Hufflepuff," and "Slytherin" – this is truly a must-buy LEGO Harry Potter set.
